East Ham Baptist Church is located within a mainly residential area in the London Borough of Newham; a diverse, young, changing and multi-everything [race, faith, language, culture] inner-city Borough.

Built in 1901, our church building is prominent, large and on bus routes. A lift linking the two-storey building is now operational.

We are welcoming and accepting with a strong sense of belonging. Fellowship is a major feature of EHBC. Our 100-strong morning congregation is multi-racial, has a good gender balance, family-orientated and changing with a strong spine of 35-60 year olds. Seven members are supported overseas missionaries.

A monthly news-sheet carries the programme which majors on worship and prayer.

Sunday morning worship is lively, welcoming and participatory with the service currently led by members and worship groups with scripture and sermon.

There is an evening service every Sunday. Prayer is a major feature of EHBC with daily prayer meetings and regular prayer nights. We have house groups, Bible Study groups and are currently setting up a youth group.

'EHBC is a multi-cultural, mission-focused church. We seek to build up the body of Christ by encouraging and equipping the members to find and exercise their gifts, and through this to touch the community both at home and abroad with the love of Christ'

We want to see people come to know Jesus and we recognise that we grow through serving the community. For this reason, many of us are engaged in daily work ministries in society, in addition to exercising our gifts within the church.

Our stated vision continues to be 'Growing in Grace, Christ, Love and Number'.

We know that we are set within a changing and challenging mission-field. Beneath the busyness and bustle of life in Newham, there are urban stresses and unmet needs, poverty, homelessness, crime and litter. We, as a Church, are not here for ourselves but for those outside in the world. Newham, and especially East Ham, is the community East Ham Baptist Church serves. Jesus said in Luke 4:18-19 (NIV), "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour." All of us at EHBC have a part to play in God's plan for the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ in Newham.

Our Minister Rev. Jeremiah Dawood is Married to Susan Dawood and they have a son and a daughter, Mr. Jordan and Miss Jessica Dawood.

What is happening at East Ham Baptist Church?

We have achieved so much at East Ham Baptist Church.

1. Through the Jesus DVD project we were able to reach 8000 homes with the gospel.
2. In the last 9 years many people were baptised at East Ham Baptist Church.
3. Significant contribution during the Olympic.
4. Renovating the church building and building a new house at the back of the church.
5. Significant contribution to the wellbeing of the homeless and needy people.
6. Significant contribution in the spiritual growth of church members.
7. Development of New leaders at EHBC.
8. Significant Contribution in the Newham borough, building relationships with other churches and leading in evangelism and mission
9. We have 7 people studying at Surgeon collage now, with the vision of training people for the ministry.
